Cornwall, Ontario (November 3, 2016) – The St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation (SLSMC) is pleased to announce that Bronko Jazvac has been appointed to its Board of Directors, replacing Jim Wilson as the representative for the steel and iron ore industries.

Mr. Jazvac is a seasoned business leader with some 38 years of experience in steel manufacturing. He currently serves as the Director of Health and Safety and World Class Continuous Improvement at ArcelorMittal Dofasco in Hamilton, Ontario. From his initial role in logistics and planning, Mr. Jazvac has progressively risen through the ranks at the Hamilton steel maker, taking on a wide variety of responsibilities over the years, including roles in transportation, maintenance, manufacturing, quality control, and health and safety.

Terence Bowles, President and CEO of the SLSMC, welcomed the appointment of Mr. Jazvac.  “Bronko Jazvac’s broad expertise in steel manufacturing will provide our Board with added depth as we seek to serve an industry that continues to undergo dramatic changes”, said Mr. Bowles. “His experience in both health and safety and in continuous improvement will complement our existing efforts within these disciplines.”

Mr. Jazvac replaces Mr. Jim Wilson, who passed away in July of 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. “I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude for Jim’s service on our board” said Terence Bowles. “We will certainly miss his wisdom, sense of humour, and dedication to the SLSMC”.
