St. Lawrence Seaway’s Brossard Facility Evacuated Safely

St. Lambert, Québec (November 26, 2012) – The St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation (SLSMC) announced this morning that at approximately 7:30 a.m. a crack in the ground floor of the Corporation’s engineering facility located in Brossard necessitated the evacuation of all employees.
The building located at 9200 Marie Victorin Blvd. was safely evacuated, and one employee was transported to hospital for treatment of possible shock. The flow of water observed to be exiting from the building’s reception area was halted, by cutting off the supply of municipal water serving the facility. As a precautionary measure, the supply of natural gas to the facility was also cut off.
An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the incident.
