Lockage Schedule and Conditions

Please note that as of the 2021 navigation season, the St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation will no longer accept cash, and that automatic ticket dispensers located on the pleasure craft docks next to the locks will no longer be available. The rights of way payment at Canadian locks must be made using our on-line reservation system.

There are no changes for payment at US locks.

Lockage Schedule for Pleasure Craft (Welland Canal)

The pleasure craft schedule for the Welland Canal effective May 1, 2021 is :

Upbound Transits – from Port Weller to Port Colborne

Transits are available on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.

On the day of transit, pleasure craft users with confirmed reservations must be in position at the Port Weller small boat dock by 09:00 a.m. and must report in to the Seaway’s Operations Control Centre on VHF Channel 14 (156.7MHz) or by phone at 289-690-4344.

**Pleasure crafts registered after the 09:00 a.m. cut off time will not  able to transit until the next scheduled operating day.**

 Downbound Transits – from Port Colborne to Port Weller

Transits are available on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday

On the day of transit, pleasure craft users with confirmed reservations must be in position at the Port Colborne small boat dock by 07:00 a.m. and must report in to the Seaway’s Operations Control Centre on VHF Channel 14 (156.7MHz) or by phone at 289-690-4344.

**Pleasure crafts registered after the 7:00 a.m. cut off time will not transit until the next scheduled operating day.**

Pleasure craft users wishing to transit the Welland Canal must make an on-line pleasure craft lockage reservation.

During transits, pleasure crafts are to communicate with the Operations Control Center (OCC), utilizing Seaway working frequency Channel 14 (unless otherwise instructed by the OCC).

 

Lockage Schedule for Pleasure Craft (Montreal / Lake Ontario)

US Snell and Eisenhower Locks

For the U.S. Snell and Eisenhower locks there will be no preset lockage schedules for pleasure craft.

Saint-Lambert, Côte Sainte-Catherine, Beauharnois and Iroquois Locks

The schedule for the 2021 pleasure craft lockage season is :

Pre-opening weekend: May 14 – 16
May 14 – 16 May 21 – October 11
Post-closing weekend: October 15 – 17

There will be one upbound and downbound lockage in the morning and one upbound and downbound lockage in the afternoon at each lock.  The availability is limited.  In order to ensure a passage through the lock, pleasure craft users are required to make a reservation on-line. They must:

  1. Make an on-line pleasure craft lockage reservation
  2. On the day of transit, consult the lockage schedule to determine lockage times for that day (Lockage information is updated daily at approximately 7:30 a.m.

Please note that changes in traffic patterns or unforeseen events may result in changes or delays to the posted schedule.

Pleasure Craft users wishing to cross the international border to transit the locks should first consult with CBSA or Homeland Security as the right of innocent passage may not apply for transit in the locks as a result of COVID-19 restrictions
