Saint-Louis de Gonzague Bridge Restored to Full Operation

St. Lambert, Québec (December 19, 2008) – The St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation (SLSMC) announced today that the Saint-Louis de Gonzague Bridge will be restored to full operation by late this afternoon. After a series of repairs and adjustments, the lift span will resume normal operation by approximately 4:00 p.m. permitting automobiles to cross the Beauharnois Canal.
A series of cables that were damaged on Friday, December 12, due to heavy ice and snow precipitation have been replaced. Crews have been working diligently over the past few days to adjust the cables and to conduct a series of tests.
The SLSMC wishes to convey its appreciation to all local residents for their understanding and goodwill during the interruption in traffic flow.
