Seaway’s Montreal / Lake Ontario Section Opens on Schedule

The Montreal/Lake Ontario section of the St. Lawrence Seaway officially opened on Good Friday, March 25 at 17:45 hours with the transit of the Canadian Enterprise at the St. Lambert Lock. The ship was carrying a load of 28,000 tonnes of iron ore and was destined for Gary, Indiana.

Adina Juster, Vice-President of the Maisonneuve Region, gave a plaque to Don Hurlbut, Captain of the Canadian Enterprise, first ship to transit the St. Lambert Lock this year. The Montreal/Lake Ontario section of the St. Lawrence Seaway officially opened on Good Friday, March 25 at 17:45 hours.
